Take Notes! Win a next-gen iPhone!

Confabb's NoteShare is being launched at PdF! Based on the popular TiddlyWiki open source tool, Confabb NoteShare contains a local copy of the agenda, as well as notes already shared by other people at the event. Write your own notes and share them with your fellow attendees. Everything is saved and synced automatically. Created by Osmosoft, recently acquired by British Telecom, the Confabb NoteShare tool sits on your desktop and runs in your browser. Write notes on your local copy and share them with your fellow attendees, knowing everything will be saved and automatically synced.

We are also holding a contest. Whoever takes the best notes at the end of the conference will win a brand new next generation iPhone when they come out next month. If you do not have A&T or don’t want the iPhone, we can give you an iPod touch at the event!

Here is some information you may find useful when using the Confabb Notes tool for the first time.

The Confabb NoteShare tool is a document that sits on your desktop and runs in your browser. When you download this document, and open it for the first time, it'll import a local copy of the agenda, as well as notes already shared by other people at the event! You can write notes on your local document, and these will be shared with your fellow attendees. And everything will be saved and synced automatically.

You may find when you run NoteShare for the first time, warning messages appear - don't worry, this is normal! You'll need to grant permission for the document to save changes locally, and then you're ready to go.

You must login prior to taking notes.

Download NoteShare to your desktop from here. Note: Save locally before opening from there.

If you have any questions for Confabb or Osmosoft/BT please stop by the Confabb table at the show!

READ THIS: Changes in Monday schedule

Due to the bad weather, Elizabeth Edwards's flights up from North Carolina today were all canceled and she will not be able join us at 9:00am as planned. We are hoping that she will be able to make it to New York tomorrow to join us later in the day. To accommodate her, we are shifting the "Inside the Presidential Campaigns: What Worked, What Didn't" plenary, with the six top e-campaign staffers, from 5pm to 11:45am. We are also making some shifts in the order of the other morning speakers to accommodate their schedules as well. So, here's the revised morning schedule:

8:30-8:40am: Welcome--Andrew Rasiej and Micah L. Sifry
8:40-9:00am: Come Together Now: The Internet's Still Unrealized Potential--Zephyr Teachout
9:00-9:15am: Visualizing the Political Blogosphere--Anthony Hamelle
9:15-9:30am: When Worlds Collide: Social Media, Mainstream Media and Politics--Matthew Hurst
9:30-10:10am: A New Activist System: The Changing Role of the Net-roots and the Right-roots: Jane Hamsher and Patrick Ruffini
10:10-10:40am: Coffee Break and Press Briefing on "New Tools for Political Transparency"
10:40-11:20am: A New Media System? Or Old Wine in New Bottles?--Chuck Defeo and Arianna Huffington
11:20-11:45am: Politics As If Everybody Can Participate--Clay Shirky
11:45-12:45pm: Inside the Presidential Campaigns: What Worked, What Didn't--Peter Daou, Mindy Finn, Justine Lam, Tracy Russo, Joe Rospars, Mark Soohoo

The afternoon breakout sessions remain as originally scheduled.

Attention Speakers!

We are only a few days away from the opening remarks at the Personal Democracy 2008. I think I speak for everyone when I say we are very excited for this years speakers and presentations. The PdF/Confabb site has added yet one more feature this year, which is a way to easily share your presentations (if you want).

Click on the ‘Media’ tab and you will see another tab for SlideShare. SlideShare.net is the best way to share your presentations. SlideShare is super easy to use and completely free. I call it the you-tube for PowerPoint’s. You can create a free account here. Then upload your presentation and tag it pdf2008. Once you do that the rest is up to us. We will then pull in those presentations and list them on the SlideShare tab. Come share your presentations and connect with your audience even after the conference is over.

See you Monday!

This is cool. “Media” is just that: everything that interests you from across the web, from text-based articles and links to photos, RSS feeds for breaking information and even full blown videos. Simply click the “Media” tab at the top of the navigation bar and find information all the information surrounding the conference. Contribute your own content or just stop by to get the 'total' picture of what is going on.
The PdF 2008 Online Network

With less than 1 week to go before the conference stay tuned to the PdF 2008 discussion boards for information on how to use all the great technology offerings here on the site.

Many of you attended last year and will notice a lot of the same functionality, but we have added even more this year!! For those of you that are new, have a read as there is a ton of great stuff going on here. Did you know that the PdF 2008 conference site has Social Networking? Well it does, and here is how to get started.

How can I find people to join "My Network" and interact with online?

The 'Community' link will show you this years attendees, be sure to login, see
who is attending and let the networking begin.

Buddy Lists/or "My Connections"

Just as you keep a list of people with whom you correspond daily, the "My
Connections" tab is your gateway to the personal contacts you've made within
the PdF conference community— people with whom you've connected before and want
to stay in touch going forward. This is your personal network; friends,
colleagues and other contacts whose whereabouts and doings you want to
follow as they prepare for the event.

Attendees can view the list of conference participants, check out their
profiles, invite them into their personal network and email them directly
through this website's personal messaging feature.

"Personal" Messaging

This is the PdF conference community's private email service. We respect
everyone's right to privacy so messaging within the community is handled by
us; simply use the "contact" link to jot a note to the person of your choice
and we'll send the message to the email they've registered within our
system. Responses are handled by us as well so your information is never
revealed unless you choose to do that outside of the community.

Bulletin Boards

This website gives all of its community members their own personal blog, or
bulletin board with which they can share their thoughts, opinions on the
issues and experiences. This is the community member's space; it's intensely
individual, consisting of the member's content and comments from their
readers. People can also read the musings of others within their network by
clicking on the "Bulletin Board Posts within My Network" tab, which shows
what others within their network are saying too. Each board—the individual
blog and the personal network bulletin board are completely searchable by
the major search engines. You will build traffic from within the community
as well as anyone from around the globe with an interest in what you have to
say!
